Let the Provence Know About Being an Indigenous Person on Income Assistance Wednesday July 19 @5 pm. Dinner and Door Prizes

July 19 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Province wants to know your experience of being on Income Assitance or PWD who live off reserve. Participant funding of $30.00 will be offered to those in attendance. Come and share your experience on Wednesday, July 19 at 5 pm.

The Province of BC deeply understands that the harmful effects of colonial practices and policies have been the primary cause of poverty for Indigenous people. That’s why reconciliation stands as a core principle within TogetherBC, B.C.’s poverty reduction strategy.

As we embark on the renewal of TogetherBC, the Ministry is actively reviewing B.C.’s income and disability assistance program legislation, which provides essential support to individuals living off-reserve in B.C. We recognize the need to ensure that this program is effective and meets the diverse needs of our community.

In our commitment to inclusivity, the Ministry is embracing a distinctions-based approach. We are engaging with First Nations, Modern Treaty Nations, Métis, Inuit, and Urban Indigenous Peoples. We also want to extend a warm invitation to individuals identifying as Métis, as we believe your perspectives are valuable and will enrich our discussions.

To create a comprehensive poverty reduction strategy, we are seeking your input and insights through targeted and public engagement. We want to hear from you! If you are a member of the First Nations, Modern Treaty Nations, Métis, Inuit, or Urban Indigenous communities in the Williams Lake or surrounding area, we wholeheartedly invite you to attend this engagement session. Share your views and experiences on poverty and well-being in your community, as your voice matters.

This engagement session is part of a larger series of inclusive engagements and co-development initiatives. Together, we can make a positive change and build a brighter future for all members of our community.

To Register copy the link into a browser and register Indigenous people who have views and/or experience on poverty and wellness in their community, or experience with B.C.’s income and disability assistance program. Participant funding of $30.00 will be offered to those in attendance.
