Family Outreach Worker - Living a Healthy Lifestyle and Raising Healthy Children can be challenging for all of us at times, we at the Ooknakane Friendship Centre are here to assist by providing support and services to the families in the Penticton area, in addition we provide a variety of programs that serve to assist families wanting to enhance both their parenting and essential life skills.

Roots Program - A child’s cultural roots provide him/her with a sense of identity and a point of reference. Understanding our roots means understanding where we came from and who are ancestors are. A primary objective of the ROOTS program is to help adoptive and foster families provide an environment wherein the child’s Aboriginal ancestry is known and the tribal customs are practiced. The ROOTs Outreach Coordinator works closely with the Ministry of Children and Family Development to assist children and families re-connect with biological roots and their family trees.

Foster Parents Support Program - The purpose of the Foster Parent Support program is to assist caregivers in their efforts to provide love and a nurturing environment to children in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The program offers and acts as a resource for families and provides information about other community programs , resources and services for those engaged in this challenging work.
